chocolate pudding powder
A powder of starch, cocoa and flavouring that is boiled with milk and sugar to make chocolate pudding.
In German-speaking countries it is sold in every supermarket. In Britain and North America, look in Eastern European shops or order it online, because the local instant mixes are only whisked and never cooked.
Substitute:
For one sachet, which serves half a litre of milk, mix about 40 g of cornflour or cornstarch with two tablespoons of cocoa and a little vanilla sugar, then cook it like pudding. The result is almost the same. Instant pudding mixes are no substitute, because they set differently when cooked or baked.
